Festival of Colors!!!!

Today was probably one of the coolest days of the year thus far! The Festival of Colors is one of most amazing celebrations ever. Although this was only my second year to the event, I plan to go every year possible for the rest of my life!!!! (... at least until I become too old to handle the chalk filled air). I missed having my best friend at the festival this year, but I was able to have lots of fun with my roommates and friends from my student ward :) What a celebration!
Here are some pictures from the festival. I hope you enjoy them!
(The Festival of Colors takes place at the Hare Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, UT every year.)

Sapphires

After glancing at one of my favorite blogs, Creature Comforts, I felt inspired by a picture of a blue ring that she had posted. It reminded me of my birthstone, the Sapphire. I have always loved how beautiful that glowing gem is, and I love how royal and stunning the name of it is. Sapphire.

Sunflowers

With the sun shining today, I was just thinking about sunflowers, and how beautiful they are. I have become a huge fan of the color yellow (although I still don't know what my favorite color is...) By simply looking at a yellow sunflower, one can be filled with joy and happiness. (I hope you all agree).

A garden of Sunflowers beckoned to me -
'Come join us, my lady, and joyous you'll be!
We're large ones and small ones, some dainty and fair,
And even some delicate to wear in your hair.
We follow the sun, swaying slowly without a care,
We have a new dance that with you we will share.
Gently hold onto our leaves, allow us to lead the way,
To our Sunflower two-step, dancing throughout the day.'
I couldn't resist them, so dandy a sight! So off I did go in my Sunflower flight.
What a glorious time, right up til twilight,
And then I had to bid my Sunflowers good-night.
So happy were we, a long day filled with fun,
Upon leaving I kissed them, each and every one.
So tender the moment, as I turned to leave.
With eyes brimmed with tears, could I truly believe?
OH! It was so true!! I then knew it to be!!!
I had to smile, 'cause they were all winking at me.

Something Abstract

After having such a long, gray day, I thought it would be fun to take a moment and appreciate this bold, abstract artwork :) I simply love how the colors are so brights, and the artwork is so unique. Hopefully it adds some more color to everyones day!

Today was a Brown day

Today was a brown day. That's not a bad thing. Things weren't as exciting and active like on a yellow, pink, or orange day. They weren't calm yet pleasing like on a green, blue, or purple day. Today, it was brown. I liked it. Instead of always running around and trying to be to certain places on time, or being giddy and carefree while going through the steps of life.... I was just there. I had the opporunity to just observe, think, and exist. How often do we get a brown day? Again, it wasn't blue, where things are calm. No no no. It was brown.

I challenge you all to take the chance sometime to appreciate a brown day. Don't let it make you feel sad or depressed in any way. Let it capture your creativity and imagination!

Peaceful Blue

When I see certain colors, I think of certain emotions that associate with them. I typically fall in love with yellow because of the fun and optimistic feeling it gives me. It just makes me feel warm inside and somewhat carefree.
My little sisters favorite color is blue, and after seeing it so much, I decided that it was a boring color. Recently, I have learned to appreciate the color blue again. The emotion that the color gives me is a peaceful feeling. It makes me feel calm and relaxed. I am so grateful for this new appreciation I found for blue. Instead of feeling bored when seeing it, I can now feel good feelings. What a wonderful little blessing in life.
